Airspace sharing for both civilian and military purposes is essential for air traffic efficiency. But cooperation does not stop there. It also ensures maximum interoperability in technical infrastructure projects and technology adoption while reducing installation and operating costs.
In 2025, the en-route radar stations at Bertem and Saint-Hubert were equipped with state-of-the-art radar systems.
RADAR
A joint project - NG AWOS (Next Generation Automated Weather Observing System) - is currently underway for the acquisition of new weather observation systems at all airports where skeyes and the Belgian Armed Forces are present. Commissioning is scheduled for 2028.
